Jon Schainker is an award-winning documentary film producer with over twenty years experience creating a wide variety of broadcast and new media projects for outfits like National Geographic, Discovery Communications, NBC News, MTV, TECH TV, and Warner Brothers Television. After running Akamai's streaming media division for a spell he began dabbling in higher education. At San Jose State, Jon developed and taught university courses in Audio and Video Production, Sound Design and The Creative Process. Jon joined UC Berkeley in 2005 with Educational Technology Services and has been producing films and digital media initiatives with a wide range of UC Departments on subjects ranging from teaching excellence to the future of Synthetic Biology. Jon also serves as a member of the Educational Technology Leadership Group, and as a media consultant for the UC Online Education Initiative.
Scott Vento has been involved in the professional audio, video, and music industries for over 30 years. While studying music performance and marketing in Los Angeles, Scott mixed live sound for major-label recording artists including Chick Corea, Victor Feldman, Fishbone, Shelby Flint, Freddie Hubbard, and The Yellowjackets with Robben Ford. Scott earned his Masters of Arts in Broadcast Communications from San Francisco State University, and is a member of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). As an ADDY award-winning editor, his past clients and subjects include Acer, En Vogue, Levi Strauss, Macy’s, Martin Luther, Nissan, PeopleSoft, Sony, Sprint and Too $hort. His production work has appeared on regional PBS and NBC affiliates, cable television, film, and in video games. He also developed and taught an upper division digital audio production course at San Francisco State University.
